Bingo Caller About
Bingo started in Italy in
1530 as a Saturday lottery game and
didn't reach the United States until nearly 400
years later.
American bingo started out
as Beano at Atlanta's county fair in 1929, where
the bingo caller
took numbers from a
cigar box.
Players used beans to mark
numbers on their
cards, and when they
completed a row of numbers, would call out "Beano!"
The game was called Beano until someone
accidentally called out "Bingo!" and a new name
was born.

Bingo Caller - Casinos
The bingo caller has a very different job
from that of the county fair dealer of
nearly 100 years ago when Bingo first made it
to America.
Bingo has changed a bit since
1929, when bingo first came to America from Europe. Back
in its day at the carnival, the bingo caller would draw
numbered disks from a cigar box. Now the numbers
spin in a motorized machine which spits out a
numbered ball.
